Process Paper

Process Paper

At first, it wasn’t easy picking my topic. I started off with Jack the Ripper but I couldn’t really get into it. Then, I still wanted to do a topic revolving crime, so I tried to read a book on Bonnie & Clyde, I still couldn’t get into that. So, I asked my teacher about what I should do because I was having some trouble finding out my topic. She asked me what else I was interested in, to which I responded, women’s rights. My teacher then helped me to come to the conclusion of Alice Paul and the Silent Sentinels.
Right away I started looking at credible secondary sources. For example, I watched documentaries from History.com. After that I started looking at my primary sources so I could show some important parts of my project. A good source that I used to help me with my primary sources was gettyimages.com. They had good photos to help me understand my topic better.
I selected my presentation category because at first I thought it would just be pretty easy, later on I learned it was a bit difficult. But, I also thought it would be a lot of fun designing it, which it was. My challenge was having to figure out how certain things worked. For example, the navigation bar was a bit confusing at first.
My project relates to the National History Day theme, breaking barriers because all the women that came and lived before 1920 a to deal with the barrier of not having the right to vote. Alice Paul helped to break this barrier by showing how strong women can be by changing people’s opinions and standing up for what they think is right.
